How to assemble frame scaffolding correctly the first time?

Scaffolding installation seems simple only at first glance. In practice, even minor errors during assembly can lead to:

• loss of structural stability,

If frame scaffolding is assembled correctly the first time, it will be safe, reliable, and convenient for façade, finishing, and repair work.

Before installation, the site must be prepared. The foundation must be level, dense, and capable of supporting the load. If the ground is soft, wooden blocks or special foundations should be installed under the supporting elements. This will help prevent the structure from settling.

The next step in scaffolding assembly is installing support feet or adjustable jacks. These allow the first tier to be level. Even a slight misalignment at the start can lead to problems when installing subsequent sections.

After this, the first frames are installed and connected with horizontal and diagonal braces. Avoid assembling several frames and then returning to the bracing. The rigidity of the structure must be ensured immediately after the installation of each span.

Once the first tier is assembled, it must be checked with a spirit level. Any deviations detected are corrected before continuing with the installation. Correcting errors on the upper levels is significantly more difficult.

Next, the decking is laid and ladders are installed for safe access. The decking must be securely fastened and undamaged. If work is being carried out at significant heights, guardrails must be installed.

As the height increases, frame scaffolding must be secured to the building wall. The number and spacing of fasteners are specified by the manufacturer. Ignoring this requirement is one of the most common causes of structural instability in high winds or under heavy loads.

Another mistake often made by beginners is using components from different manufacturers. Despite their external similarity, the dimensions of the components may vary. This makes the connections less reliable, and the structure itself loses its design strength.

A final inspection is required before use. The reliability of all connections, the correct installation of diagonals, the fastening of the decking, the presence of railings, and the presence of fastenings to the façade are checked. Only then can the frame scaffolding be used for work.
