Folding ladder - safe transportation
Folding ladder - safe transportation

In some professions, a specialist needs to carry a ladder from one place to another, transport the ladder by car, while observing safety rules. Transporting a ladder should not threaten the safety of either the owner of the ladder or the people around him. By transporting the ladder in a bus, you do it safely for others. But when transporting a ladder on the roof of a car, it must be secured.

When fixing the ladder on top of the car trunk, distribute the load evenly. The center of gravity should be positioned so that the ladder cannot slip and fall from the vehicle, hitting passers-by or neighboring cars.

In addition, the law obliges employers to ensure the safe transportation of ladders, using various means and methods of fastening.

Preparing the ladder for transportation

Check that the ladder is in good condition before loading it onto the rack. Make sure there are no bent rungs, rust, cracks or breaks on the ladder that could jeopardize safe work on the ladder.

Lock the folding ladder. Faulty section locking mechanisms can cause the ladder to randomly extend during transportation. As a result, the stairs can injure others.

Load the ladder into the appropriate type of vehicle. The vehicle must be of a size suitable for transporting the ladder so that its ends do not hang either in front or behind. The vehicle's stability must also be sufficient to support the ladder.

It's good if the car has a roof rack. Special hooks allow you to secure the ladder to the trunk of a car.

Make sure the ladder is securely secured so that it cannot move during transport.

It is most convenient for two people to secure the ladder to the top of the car. Another pair of hands will allow you to better control the movement and trajectory of the stairs.

Having secured the ladder with a special fastener or straps/ropes, mark the overhangs with bright markings. This will make the ends of the stairs more visible to other motorists. If you will be moving in the dark, make marks with reflective elements.
