Horizontal formwork of floors: basic elements
Horizontal formwork of floors: basic elements

The construction of a multi-story building requires pouring floors. Without horizontal formwork in monolithic construction, this is difficult to do. Special construction forms of floor formwork require vertical supports that hold the future floor/ceiling until it hardens. Horizontal formwork allows you to pour a floor of concrete of the required thickness and shape. Each construction site where new floors, stairs and lintels are erected needs horizontal formwork. This is a very important part of construction, so the formwork must be of high quality so that the concrete elements can withstand tens of tons of load, many years of operation and exposure to weather conditions.

For formwork, surface protection is important, for example, galvanizing, painting, impregnation of plywood parts, since precipitation, humidity, dampness can destroy structures.

Now, few builders make formwork from boards, since this takes extra time during installation/dismantling. Ready-made formwork systems, on the contrary, are installed quickly, allow to obtain precise dimensions, a smooth concrete surface after hardening. If subsequent plastering is not planned, it is important to cast a smooth concrete surface the first time.

Main elements of floor formwork:

Beams

These are the basic elements of horizontal formwork. They are made of layers of cross-glued wood, the surface is impregnated with a liquid from fungus so that the beams do not collapse from moisture.

Formwork racks

The function of the formwork racks is to hold the H20 beams. VIRASTAR formwork racks are made of a pipe with a diameter of 60 mm (outer pipe) and a diameter of 48 mm (inner pipe) with a thickness of 3 mm. The vertical racks are designed for a load of 20 kN. To obtain ceilings from 2.1 to 3.5 m high, the racks are made telescopic. Height adjustment can be carried out with an accuracy of up to a centimeter.

Crown

The purpose of the crown is to hold the beams. The crown size allows to hold 2 beams at the same time. The supporting heads are designed for 1 beam and are placed between the crowns. The heads have a universal size that fits all types of beams and formwork racks.

Tripod

The purpose of the tripod is to make the formwork racks stable. Each tripod can be placed against a wall, in a corner or in the middle of the room. The surface protected with paint can withstand any weather conditions.

Plywood panels

Waterproof plywood panels do not absorb moisture and are resistant to weather conditions. The panels can be produced on a steel frame or without it. Coniferous trees are often used as a material: spruce, pine, fir.
