What is good formwork?
What is good formwork?

In order to achieve the planned good results in construction, great attention should be paid to the decisive choice of the best formwork, reliable and high-quality.

There are many different formwork systems made of different materials and implemented in various elements that differ in design, but their characteristics should be given priority attention if you set out to buy the best quality formwork. In order not to waste your time and money, you should understand in detail what good formwork should be.

What should you pay attention to in order to buy good quality monolith formwork?

Limit of bearing capacity

Both vertical and horizontal formwork must be distinguished by considerable strength, which will allow it to withstand the pressure of the hardening concrete of the walls, ceilings and other elements of the building. It should be taken into account that there will be additional impact on the formwork of temporarily located equipment, as well as the weight of workers present in the building under construction. Constancy of dimensions

The formwork dimensions must be constant before and after pouring the concrete mixture, since the main purpose of the formwork is to give shape and size to liquid concrete. All formwork elements must have sufficient structural rigidity and not deform under the pressure of the concrete mass. Of course, auxiliary units should be attached to the main elements to help: diagonals, tripods, spacers, etc.

Smooth edges and joints

The formwork elements should be assembled into a single system so that there is no cement leakage after pouring. Joints and seams should be tightly fitted to each other, and this can only be achieved by using high-quality formwork, smooth and not bent. It is best to involve qualified experienced builders for the work.

After dismantling the formwork parts, the concrete should not be damaged

Removable formwork elements should be designed in such a way that it is possible to easily and simply dismantle them, but without damaging the newly created concrete surface.

Multi-cycle use

Formwork that can be reused allows you to reduce costs at the next stage of construction. Multi-cycle use is typical for formwork elements made of metal (steel, aluminum), marine plywood, and plastic. For example, cardboard formwork is disposable. Reusable formwork allows you to save resources, which has a positive effect on the environment.

Formwork weight

If you cannot connect a crane to unload and install the formwork, then plan to use lighter elements. Keep in mind that formwork that weighs less is easier and more convenient to transport and install than heavy large-panel formwork. Less effort and time is required to work with lightweight formwork.

Formwork elements should not deform or warp

During transportation, under the influence of weather conditions, while holding the hardening concrete mass, the formwork units should not warp or deform. A change in shape and condition under the influence of these factors is a sign of poor-quality formwork.
