How to properly install the floor formwork?
How to properly install the floor formwork?

For pouring concrete floors between floors, horizontal formwork is used (the second name is floor formwork).

What is formwork?

Formwork is a building form that limits the curing concrete. If earlier wooden boards were used as formwork, now formwork panels are made of plywood, on a steel frame, as well as plastic reusable, cardboard disposable forms.

Metal racks, crowns and tripods (horizontal formwork elements) are in demand in the construction market because they are easy to use, strong and durable. Telescopic racks change their height and allow you to fill in the floors between floors at different heights - from 2 to 5 m. Thus, you do not need to buy several racks for each height, it is enough to buy a telescopic rack.

The Ukrainian company VIRASTAR produces steel formwork props. The thickness of the metal wall is 3 mm - this allows you to withstand the pressure of the concrete mass for a long time before the floor solidifies. The diameter of VIRASTAR formwork risers is 60 mm of the outer part, 48 mm of the inner part.

What elements and how much will be needed to fill the floor?

Measure the area of \u200b\u200bthe room where the ceiling is to be poured (length and width).

Based on the area, the number of beams is determined. The distance between the lower beams is from 1.5 to 2.5 m. The distance between the upper beams is 0.5-0.6 m. The general rule is that the greater the thickness of the slab, the closer the beams should be.

Determine the future height of the room. The telescopic formwork props must be adjusted to this height. If you plan to make a thick overlap, you should choose reinforced racks. Their height is fixed with a metal lock.

Racks should be arranged, focusing on the distance between the beams. If the beams are far apart (at a distance of 2.5 m), then the racks must be installed every meter and a half. If the distance between the beams is about 1.5 m, the posts can be placed after 1.5 - 2 m. The maximum bearing capacity of each of the posts is 2000 kg.

To increase the stability of the formwork stand, a tripod is used. This is a spacer that does not allow the rack to tilt or move. Tripods are not placed on each rack, but they reinforce the racks through one. That is, the number of tripods will be half as much as the racks.

Crowns are placed on top of the racks - heads that support the beams. Uniforks are placed at the joints of the beams, which is possible due to their shape, and the supporting heads are mounted on racks that hold the centers of the beams. Number of heads = number of formwork posts.

Plywood board is purchased based on the floor area.

For an accurate calculation, it is recommended to use the horizontal formwork calculator. You can give us a call and we will calculate the slab formwork for you completely free of charge. We will be glad to help you!
