What kind of work can I do with a stepladder?
What kind of work can I do with a stepladder?

A stepladder is a versatile folding ladder used at home, in the countryside, in the office, in the workshop and on construction sites. If you have a stepladder, such as the VIRASTAR NOVA PLUS, you can do more work. This could be housework or work assignments for which you can get paid. In any case, a stepladder gives you the chance to do more and get a better result.

What kind of work can I do with a stepladder?

Household and utility work

  • Window cleaning - Easy access to the upper parts of windows, especially in private houses or apartments with high ceilings.
  • Height cleaning - Dusting upper shelves, cabinets, cornices, chandeliers and ceilings.
  • Replacing light bulbs or lamps - Climbing to ceiling lights to replace lamps or perform maintenance.
  • Hanging curtains, cornices, decorations — Installing and removing curtains, garlands, decor.
  • Painting walls and ceilings — Access to high sections of walls and ceilings during cosmetic repairs.
  • Repair work in the apartment — Working with electricity, laying cables, installing sensors, alarms.

Summer cottage and garden work

  • Trimming trees and bushes — A stepladder helps you reach high branches for trimming.
  • Harvesting from trees — Apples, pears, etc. can be safely picked while standing on a stepladder.
  • Cleaning gutters and roofs — Removing leaves, debris from roofs and gutters.
  • Painting or repairing the facade — Painting work, installing siding at low levels, insulation.

Construction and repair work

  • Installation of ceilings and cladding — Installation of plasterboard, plastic panels, tension structures.
  • Fastening ceiling structures — Ceiling plinths, decorative beams and elements.
  • Working with ventilation and air conditioning — Installation or maintenance.
  • Laying communications — Plumbing, electrical, Internet cables — especially near the ceiling.

Working in a workshop or garage

  • Organizing storage — Access to upper shelves, racks, installation of boxes and brackets.
  • Maintenance of machinery and equipment — Working at height with ventilation, exhaust, garage systems.

When working at height, follow basic safety rules:

  1. choose a stable stepladder of suitable height,
  2. place the stepladder on a flat, hard surface,
  3. do not stand on the top step of a double-sided stepladder unless this is provided for by the design,
  4. use PPE if working at a height of more than 1.8 m — especially at a construction site.
