Construction scaffolding - what is the right way to measure it?

How should scaffolding be measured? In meters or in square meters? To buy scaffolding in accordance with the planned project, you should calculate the height and width of the facade being processed. By multiplying these parameters, we get the area of the scaffolding, based on which you can buy scaffolding. You can buy scaffolding in a set, where the area is indicated, for example, 8x3 m, where 8 is the height of the scaffolding, and 3 is the width.

Main parameters of scaffolding:

• width,
• height.

The width of the scaffolding is the length of the scaffolding from left to right (or from right to left). Take this size into account in full, because it will be impossible to rearrange the scaffolding, and it is prohibited to stretch from the platform of the tier beyond the scaffolding to eliminate the risk of falling from a height.

The height of the scaffolding is the distance from the ground to the upper platform, this is how the scaffolding is calculated. But do not forget that the working height will be 2 m more than the height to the flooring. Fences must be installed on the upper tier of the scaffolding. The height of the fencing frames of frame scaffolds is 1.2 m or 1.5 m. Between the fencing frames, horizontal ties are installed, the length of which is 3 m (this is the width of the frame scaffold cell).

If technical documentation for the building is available, you can take the necessary parameters from it - the height and width of the building, to calculate the dimensions of the scaffolds.

Height and width are measured in meters, this is a standardized unit of measurement. By measuring the facade in meters, you will have information that you will voice to the seller of the scaffolds. To avoid misunderstandings and confusion, the dimensions are indicated in standard units of measurement.

Knowing the dimensions of the facade along which it is necessary to erect scaffolds, you can find out the area. In accordance with the area value, you can buy a set of scaffolds without spending extra.

When choosing scaffolds, find out if there is enough space in front of the building to install the structure. If you need narrower scaffolding, choose frame Euro scaffolding, the width of which is 0.75 m. The width of standard frame scaffolding is 1 m. Wedge-clamp scaffolding has a width of 0.75 m of walk-through frames.
