What is a tower and how to choose it correctly?

In order to safely carry out repair and cladding of building facades, restoration of monuments and architectural objects, installation and repair work inside buildings, cleaning work, installation and replacement of lamps in workshops, replacement of banners and other operations at height, stable and reliable high-rise structures should be used. . Towers are the optimal equipment for working at heights indoors and outdoors.

The tour tower is a smaller mobile relative of scaffolding, with the difference that the tour tower can be easily moved to the right place. As a rule, the installation of tower tours takes a little time and can be done alone, unlike scaffolding, which are mounted by several workers. Large incoming nodes allow you to assemble a tower-tour in just half an hour. It does not require the use of tools or additional fasteners. The fastening of a high-rise structure and an increase in its rigidity is achieved through the use of diagonals and ties.

With jacks or stabilizers?

The stability of the tower tour is significantly increased when using inclined corner supports (stabilizers). If the height of the tower exceeds 7 m, then the use of stabilizers, in accordance with the standards, is mandatory. Some models of tour towers are equipped with screw supports (jacks), which allow you to level the structure on uneven terrain. Tours without screw supports are suitable for indoor use where there is a flat floor.

Mobility without sacrificing sustainability

Towers are equipped with durable rollers of small diameter. The wheels have a swivel design, which makes it easy to maneuver and accurately position the tower in the right place. At least half of the wheels are equipped with a foot brake so that the high-rise structure does not move during operation. You can lock the wheels at any time by simply pressing your foot.

Narrow or wide deck?

With a large working platform, the tour tower provides the staff with a safe and comfortable working place, which can accommodate several people with auxiliary tools at the same time. The working platform is fenced with safety railings, which are located at a height of at least 1 m. For work inside buildings, as well as in confined spaces, it is best to choose narrow towers with a small platform width of 0.6 m – 0.7 m. If you plan to work in an open space where there is a lot of space, it is advisable to use tower tours with a large working platform of 2.0x2.0 m, on which you can comfortably sit down for the staff along with auxiliary tools and materials used. Universal (suitable for use inside and outside buildings) are tour towers with a platform width of 1.2 m.

Aluminum or steel?

Aluminum tour towers are suitable for indoor and outdoor use. The corrosion resistance of aluminum alloys determines the significant service life of such structures. Steel towers have a protective epoxy coating that prevents corrosion. Thanks to painting, towers made of ferrous alloys are also successfully used outside buildings. The ultimate load of steel and aluminum towers depends on the design features. Before buying tower tours, you should decide on the possible maximum load. If you plan to work on facade cladding, installation and repair or work with promotional materials, then you can choose a tower-tour with a maximum load of up to 150 kg. And if we are talking about the construction or use of heavy auxiliary equipment or a large amount of working materials, then you should opt for models with a higher load limit. Steel and aluminum models differ in cost. At the same working height, aluminum models are slightly more expensive.

What height to choose?

Before buying a tower tour, it is necessary to determine the expected scope of work and choose a model with a working height that is not less than the height of the object being repaired. However, the height of the tower must be less than the height of the ceiling in the room if work is planned inside the building. Having roughly estimated at what height the work will be carried out, one should choose a tower with a suitable working height (the values usually provided in the characteristics table). In some models, height extension is available through the use of intermediate sections. There are also telescopic towers-tours, the height of which is changed by means of a cable mechanism.

For those who work at height, the issue of safety and reliability of working structures is a top priority. Tour towers are stable, stable structures designed to work inside and outside buildings. The recommendations presented above will help you to buy the right model of tower tours on your own.
