Requirements for installing floor formwork

Since the floor/ceiling of a multi-story building is an extremely important part of the structure, which is constantly subject to heavy loads, only high-quality horizontal formwork should be used when pouring floors.

Before installing the formwork, make sure that:

• the floor technology is designed correctly (thickness in accordance with the expected load);
• the formwork will be installed without compromising other work on the project;

How is horizontal formwork installed?

First, you should calculate the load that will act on the formwork. Calculate the height of the floor slab, it should be 30 times less than the length of the future floor slab. If the length of the slab is 3000 mm, then the thickness is 3000:30 = 100 mm.

When finished floor slabs are delivered to the construction site, their dimensions are calculated, the optimal height of the slab is set.

You can make the floor higher, but at the same time maintain the thickness to length ratio of 1:30 ... 1:20.

When constructing a floor, the most important stage is the installation of formwork.

Take into account the importance of the operations:

• Determining the location of the formwork racks,
• Stable placement of tripods,
• Installation of heads and forks at the top of the racks,
• Laying beams in the longitudinal and transverse directions,
• Installation of support angles, on top of which plywood water-repellent shields will lie.

When installing formwork racks, you should remember not only about the correct creation of auxiliary forms for a horizontal concrete floor, but also about the safety of workers. Some people take boards instead of telescopic formwork racks, often old and dilapidated. But they cannot guarantee the strength and reliability of homemade devices for pouring concrete. Mistakes when installing horizontal formwork can be costly.
