The most common mistakes when working with formwork
9 September 2024
Scaffolding located in the city center can attract strangers. Children might think it's a climbing playground, tramps might try to sleep on the platforms, thieves might try to steal metal components, and vandals might try to destroy the structure.
To prevent this from happening, to ensure that the scaffolding remains standing as before, and that people do not get injured, care must be taken to prevent unauthorized access to the scaffolding. Moreover, it is desirable to limit the access of outsiders both when workers are not on the scaffolding, and when they are there, but are busy with work and cannot see that one of the outsiders is trying to climb the scaffolding.
First, assess the situation:
Fence the entire perimeter of the construction site
Install a fence or other barrier around the scaffolding area. Where the fencing contacts the building, make sure there are no gaps through which an intruder could enter.
Remove stairs after shift
If the tiers are climbed using separate ladders, remove them and hide them at the end of the working day. Store the access ladder in a secure place or securely secure it with padlocks on both sides to prevent unauthorized access.
Install a surveillance camera
To keep an eye on the construction site during non-working hours, install video surveillance of the site. The duty officer will be able to monitor access to the construction site while sitting at the monitor.
Security guard or watchman
If tools and materials remain at the construction site, it is advisable to organize shift work for a watchman or security guard who would be located directly at the site.
These recommendations will help you prevent strangers from entering scaffolding.
